Hi! My name is Emma. I am very grateful to have started my career as a Physiotherapist here at Wintergreen. My passion for physiotherapy stems from growing up as a competitive gymnast and gymnastics coach. As a gymnast, I experienced firsthand the injuries and setbacks that can occur during training and competition. I understand how injuries can immensely impact your life, causing physical limitations, pain, and emotional distress. Through my personal experiences with injuries and rehabilitation, I realized the impact physiotherapy had on my own life. Physiotherapy helped me to regain strength, and confidence, allowing me to return to the sport I loved. My personal challenges made me realize I wanted to help others undergo the same positive changes in their lives!

With a warm smile and genuine kindness, I greet my patients, making them feel valued and at ease. I am here to listen and work together in developing a treatment plan that will work best for you. My approach to physiotherapy treatment is patient centred, focusing on understanding the specific needs and goals of each person. I prioritize keeping up with the latest evidence-based practice to optimize your recovery journey. I plan to commit to being a lifelong learner and continue learning and specializing as my career develops. You will find I am very compassionate and empathetic which fosters a strong therapeutic relationship, encouraging you to feel confident that you are in good hands.

My goal as your physiotherapist is to provide you with great care involving manual therapeutic techniques, educate and guide you on your treatment options, and provide you with at-home self-management strategies you can utilize throughout your daily life.

My name is Raquel Marques and I am a Registered Massage Therapist. I’m a recent graduate of the Massage Therapy program at Humber College with Honours, and I previously obtained my BA in Kinesiology and Health Sciences from York University. During my 3-year program at Humber, I completed a total of 6 different placements that dealt with a variety of patient populations. I’ve worked with prenatal and postpartum, general population, mental health, neurological conditions, infancy/children, palliative care in a variety of locations including Sick Kids, Neurochangers, Michael Garron Withdrawal Centre, Circle of Care and Black Creek Health Care Centre.

I’m passionate in helping patients return to their activities of daily living in a holistic approach that is focused on client-centred care. As a progress within my career, I’m interested in focusing my approach within sports rehabilitation as well as, prenatal and postpartum care. My passion for massage therapy began as a teenager as I’ve performed a variety of different sports including karate, volleyball, gymnastics, flag-football, soccer, tennis and many more. I’ve played a total of 15 different sports and counting and throughout my time I’ve been no stranger to massage therapy and physiotherapy.

I’ve always had an interest in human biology and decided to continue this through my post-secondary education which landed me in this career path. Throughout my education, I’ve always been keen to help others using the Biopsychosocial Model and have reflected that within my practice. Whenever I work with a patient, my main goal is to have them apart of the treatment process, as well as create an environment where communication is important to achieve all the patients’ goals. I’m very excited to embark on this journey with Wintergreen and continue to learn from my fellow practitioners at the clinic.

Hi there! I’m Isabel, and I’m a Registered Physiotherapist here at Wintergreen. I obtained my Master of Science in Physiotherapy degree from McMaster University in 2022 and I also hold a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree (2018) as well as a Master of Science in Global Health degree (2019). My love for building therapeutic relationships with clients and helping them overcome challenges to get back to the activities that are most meaningful to them is what ultimately led me to pursue a career in the rehabilitation field.

Over the course of my education and extensive training, I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients with a wide range of complex orthopedic, neurological, and cardiorespiratory conditions in both community clinic and hospital settings. In doing so, I developed keen interests in manual therapy techniques, active-based rehab, chronic pain management, and concussion rehabilitation. I’ve also developed a keen ability to develop and adapt treatment plans so that they are specifically tailored to each patient’s specific goals and lifestyle. I’m a huge advocate of life-long learning and am always looking for ways to expand my skillset through research and continuing education.

At the centre of my approach to working with clients is a positive therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a welcoming atmosphere where patients feel heard and cared for. After a thorough assessment, I work with the patient to develop a treatment plan that fits their goals and lifestyle. I believe that no two patients are the same – and so no two treatment plans will ever be exactly the same. I am a big proponent of one-on-one, hands-on treatment as well as active movement in my practice, with the goal of helping patients build up self-efficacy and confidence as they make progress towards their treatment goals.

My goal is to get to know your story and the things that are most meaningful to you, and use this knowledge to provide care that is individualized and patient-centered. In doing so I hope to make your rehab journey meaningful and enjoyable!
